Top 3 Ways to Make Make-Up Last Longer

A lot of people struggle to last the day without touching up their make-up, especially if they have no time. I've researched 5 easy ways to help your make up stay on longer. Read more for the top 5 ways!

1.       Don’t touch your face! – It sounds silly and you may be wondering why its number one but from personal experience and hearing from people everywhere, the easiest step is to avoid touching your face. Throughout the day this may be hard but any kind of contact with your face will cause your make-up to rub off and you’ll be constantly reapplying make-up!
2.       Setting powder – Any kind of powder to set your foundation, whether it gives you a matte or dewy finish, will help your make up stay on. It’s simple when you think about it. A powder on top of your foundation will hold it in place and it will come off your face first meaning you only have to reapply powder and not add another layer of foundation. I suggest using one of the 3 following powders to set your foundation.

Ben Nye Banana Powder – I have not personally tried this yet but I've heard the most amazing things from reviews and beauty gurus. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian use this and it’s widely available on eBay and amazon.
NYX HD Finishing Powder – I swear by this powder! It’s perfect for any skin type and colour. Because it’s translucent it doesn’t create any colour on your face and therefore doesn’t make you look orange or paler than your make up. It’s a little pricey at £9.50 but it lasts and worth it!

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – This is another personal favourite and great for giving a matte finish (even on oily skin). It needs reapplying more than the NYX HD powder, however, comes in different shades so you can easily colour match to your preferred colour. Its cheaper than the banana powder and NYX HD powder (around £3.99)
3.       Setting Spray – Companies offer different types of spray to help keep your make up fixed. You can buy ones such as MUA Pro-Base Makeup Fixing Mist which is £5 or E.L.F Makeup Mist and Set for £3.75 which are on the cheaper side.
There are higher end setting sprays that offer more natural ingredients that will moisturise and refresh your skin as well as set make up. My personal preference is MAC Mineralize Charged Water (£16) which is a clear, sweet smelling spray that’s infused with green tea. If your skin is dry you can use this spray on your face without make up for added moisture.

Another more expensive but highly praised spray is All Night Longer-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray (19.50) which claims to last for 16 hours and is for all skin types.
Obviously everyone's personal choice is different so its trial and error really!
